Triple Crowns up for grabs at USA Wrestling Kids Nationals in Farmington, Utah, Monday & Tuesday

by Adam Engel, USA Wrestling

The final step in a quest for a coveted Triple Crown will end at the 2022 USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals at the Legacy Event Center in Farmington, Utah, June 26-28.

A wrestler completes the Triple Crown if he wins USA Wrestling national championships in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman in the same year.

The Kids folkstyle champions were determined at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, in April. The Kids Nationals are the second and third leg of the Triple Crown, with Greco-Roman action on Monday and freestyle on Tuesday. The Triple Crown is awarded in three Kids age divisions: 10U, 12U and 14U.

The Triple Crown is also awarded annually at the 16U and Junior level in Fargo, North Dakota. There is also a new Triple Crown for high school girls this season.

Two wrestlers seek a repeat of a 2021 Triple Crown. Aaron Stewart (14U and 136) and Jaden Washington (12U and 78) of Illinois won at different weight classes a year ago. Last year, Washington won in the 10U division and is up seven pounds. Stewart added 22 pounds since last summer.

Wrestlers must qualify to enter this event by competing in their designated regional or with approval from the wrestler’s state chairperson.

Each bout is being streamed live on FloWrestling.
