United World Wrestling released its May 2018 Ranking Series standings in men's freestyle, which featured 11 U.S. wrestlers and at least one in every weight class.

2017 WOrld bronze medalist Nick Gwiazdowski was ranked No. 1 at 125 kg, the top American in the Ranking Series standings. Gwiazdowski won a gold medal at the recent Pan American Championships last week and was a bronze medalist at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix in Russia in January.

The 2018 season is the first in which United World Wrestling is utilizing an objective ranking system. The points acquired at continental championships and select rankings series will determine the top four seeded athletes at the 2018 World Championships in October held in Budapest.

Three U.S. athletes stand in the top five of their weight class in the current Ranking Series standings.

Coming in at No. 2 at 86 kg is David Taylor, who also won a gold medal at the Pan American Championships, and was also a champion at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix in Russia earlier in the season.

Taking a No. 5 ranking at 97 kg is Kyven Gadson, a silver medalist at the Pan American Championships.
