Goldman gets Greco silver, Bellamy and Peters take bronzes on last day of Veterans Worlds

BELGRADE, Serbia –Three U.S. athletes won medals on the final day of Greco-Roman wrestling at the Veterans World Championships on Sunday.
Winning a silver medal at 58 kg in Div. A was Jason Goldman of Endicott, N.Y., who finished with a 3-1 record in a five-athlete roundrobin. Goldman defeated the eventual champion Farajollah Fateminia of Iran in the first round. The Iranian also went 3-1, and won the gold with 13 classification points, to Goldman’s 11.
“After being dethroned and earning a silver medal in Veteran's Freestyle World Championship, I also won the silver again in Greco Roman. Thank you to everyone back home that supported me in my efforts. Thanks to my Dad and Coach Chris Brown for always being in my corner and the rest of the USA Veterans Wrestling Team for believing in me throughout the competition. I am truly blessed to be a part of this great team, to honor myself and my country and to participate in the greatest sport ever,” said Goldman.
It was the second medal for Goldman of the week, after claiming a silver medal in freestyle on Thursday.
The two other U.S. wrestlers who competed on Sunday came home with bronze medals, Octavius Bellamy of Westchester, Ill. at 97 kg in Div. A and Kenneth Peters of Elmhurst, Ill. at 76 kg in Div. G.
Bellamy lost his opening match to Yuliyan Georgiev of Bulgaria, and was pulled back into the repechage when the Bulgarian reached the finals. In the bronze-medal bout, he scored a 10-0 technical fall over Dalivor Perovic of Serbia.
Peters went 1-2 in a four-athlete roundrobin. The key victory that gave him the bronze was a 7-4 win over Villi Olumets of Estonia in the final match.
Peters won a gold medal on Thursday in freestyle, giving him two medals this year, while Bellamy won his second bronze medal of the week, also getting third in freestyle.
During the six day competition, the USA won 25 total medals at the Veterans Worlds, including six golds, seven silvers and 12 bronzes.
