Kyle Snyder: Level 10
Stronger and faster than most of his opponents, few would expect 97kg freestyle wrestler Kyle Snyder to also be the youngest world champion in the history of USA Wrestling.
Youth can be deceiving. The American youngster burst onto the international scene during the 2015 World Championships when he upended five-time world champion Abdusalam Gadisov with a dramatic comeback in the finals. But what makes Kyle Snyder so special?
Through unlimited access to training, interviews with coaches and archival footage this 10-minute film examines how Snyder was able to mature from high school state champion to world champion in only two years. The film also explores Snyder’s ambitions and thoughts about the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio.
United World Wrestling has launched its four-part documentary video series featuring the sport’s most popular stars.
Wrestling speaks to everyone,” said United World Wresting president Nenad Lalovic. “We are featuring the journeys of our biggest stars which I know will inspire our young wrestlers. Our movies connect with women and men, young and old. They are a big step forward for developing more stars from our sport.”
In addition to the Kyle Snyder movie, United World Wrestling has feature documentaries on three-time Olympic champions Saori Yoshida and Kaori Icho of Japan, two-time World champion Battsetseg Soronzonbold of Mongolia and Greco-Roman world champion Frank Staebler of Germany.
