An exciting new international competition is being held on Sunday, featuring some of the top high school freestyle wrestlers in the nation and some talented international opponents. The Journeymen Freestyle Classic is set for April 17 at Achilles Rink at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
The event includes international wrestlers from Russia, Lithuania, Korea, Italy and Tajikistan.
Top USA Junior and Cadet wrestlers from across the nation and around the region will also participate in this competition, which has been organized by Frank Popolizio and the respected Journeymen Wrestling Club which is based in the Albany, N.Y. Capitol area.
They are billing this event as a prequel to Fargo, but with the strong international participation, it may also give a preview of some athletes who will compete in this year’s Cadet and Junior World Championships.
This event will be broadcast live by Flowrestling. Wrestling begins at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday on nine mats.
