Becka Leathers named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Becka Leathers (Choctaw, Okla./Gator OKCU RTC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Leathers captured a women’s freestyle championship at 55 kg/121 lbs. at the Body Bar UWW Junior Nationals on Sunday in Irving, Texas.
Leathers was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament after turning in a dominant performance. She recorded two technical falls in the finals series, earning 11-0 and 11-0 wins over Areana Villaescusa of Rio Rico WC.
Leathers advances to the UWW Junior World Championships on Aug. 11-16 in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil.
She made her second straight Junior World Team.
