Sally Roberts named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Sally Roberts (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Roberts earned the No. 3 spot on the U.S. Women’s National Team at 60 kg/132 lbs. with a victory in a Special Wrestle-off held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center on Friday.
Roberts scored a 10-0 technical fall over Brieana Delgado. Roberts scored the initial takedown on a spin behind before tilting Delgado four times, each for two points, to secure the first-period fall.
Roberts is a two-time World bronze medalist, who did not compete between 2008-2013. She returned to the mat this season.
Delgado placed second and Roberts placed third at the Non-Olympic World Team Trials, but did not face each other. This match was the true-third bout to determine the No. 3 spot on the U.S. National Team.
