Seven U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers advance to second day of Thor Masters in Denmark

NYKOBING FALSTER, Denmark – There are seven U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers who have advanced to Saturday’s competition at the Thor Masters after preliminaries were completed on Friday.


All seven of those surviving day one have one loss in this double-elimination pool competition format used at Thor Masters. All seven are still in the hunt for a medal.


Those advancing include past Senior World Team members Sammy Jones (63 kg) and Jesse Porter (77 kg).


The other American wrestlers still alive in the tournament include Max Black (60 kg), Logan Savvy (60 kg), Lenny Merkin (67 kg), Dominic Damon (67 kg) and Robert Perez III (67 kg).


Each of the U.S. wrestlers competing on Saturday have received their opponents. The Saturday morning session begins at 10:30 local time. Nykobing Falster is five hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time.
