Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania Blue, Wisconsin win pools at 14U National Freestyle Duals

OAKS, Pa. – Day one of freestyle at the 14U National Duals saw Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania Blue and Wisconsin winning their pools and advancing to Sunday’s Gold/Silver Pool.


Ohio, the Greco-Roman runners-up on Friday, defeated Minnesota Blue in the Pool A finals, 48-33. Ohio won the last eight matches in the finals dual meet, including six by technical fall.


Illinois powered to the Pool B title with a 61-22 victory over Georgia. Illinois started with the first six victories I the duals, four by technical fall, to take a lead that was insurmountable.


Pennsylvania Blue, the Greco-Roman champions on Friday, claimed Pool C with a 67-11 victory in the Pool C finals. Pennsylvania Blue had 15 wins in this dual meet.


Wisconsin captured Pool D with a 49-31 victory over Maryland. Wisconsin started with three straight wins and never looked back.


The top two teams in each pool advanced to Sunday’s Gold/Silver pool, which will determine the top eight teams in the tournament. The second place teams were Minnesota Blue (Pool A), Georgia (Pool B), Missouri Red (Pool C) and Iowa (Pool D).


In three of the four pools, there was a Second Place Wrestle-back to determine which team would advance to the Gold/Silver Pool.


Minnesota Blue beat New Jersey, 42-40 to secure second place in Pool A. Georgia edged Florida, 38-37 for Pool B second place. Iowa stopped Maryland 46-32 to take runner-up in Pool D.


The first round of the Color Pools was also conducted on Saturday night. The completion of the 14U National Duals are set for Sunday, live on FloWrestling.
