Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend. Here is this week’s report, with four tournaments held over the weekend.

Robert Horton Memorial Open
At Franklin Springs, Ga., January 21-22

Notes: Canada’s USports No. 1 Alberta won the team title with 95 points, followed by NCAA No. 2 King with 92.5 points and NAIA No. 4 Campbellsville in the Robert Horton Memorial hosted by NCAA Emmanuel. King, which entered just seven athletes, had the most champions with four: Dianna Holmes (109), Danielle Garcia (116), Ashlynn Ortega (143) and Cheyenne Bowman (170). NCAA No. 7 Presbyterian had a pair of champions: Samantha Miller (101) and Paige Wehrmeister (136). Other individual champions from U.S. colleges were Naomi Henry of NCAA No. 13 New Jersey City (123) and Maquoia Bernabe of NAIA No. 8 University of the Cumberlands (191). Alberta had one individual champion Katie Mulkay (155) and U.S. Senior wrestler Xochitl Mota-Pettis of Rise RTC won the 130-pound title.

Guelph Open
at Guelph, ONT, Canada, January 22

Notes: NCAA No. 14 (tie) Adrian College sent 14 wrestlers north of the border for the Guelph Open. Adrian had five place winners, including runners-up Zoe Nowicki (59 kg) and Taylor Cutler (65 kg). Other U.S. placewinners included three athletes from River Falls WC of Wisconsin, plus high school star Rianne Murphy of Indiana. All of the champions were Canadian, including seven from Canada’s USports teams. USports No. 3 Brock had two champions, as did USports No. 6 (tie) Western. Other Canadian college champions came from USports No. 6 tie McMaster, USports No. 9 Lakehead and USports unranked Concordia. Four Senior-level club athletes from Canada also won titles.
