Steveson, Gray decline Final X berths; two Final X finalists at 125 kg MFS and 76 kg WFS to be set at World Team Trials Challenge Tournament

Today is the deadline for 2021 World medalists and 2020 Olympic medalists to accept their spots in Final X.
2020 Olympic champion Gable Steveson (Minneapolis, Minn./Gopher WC RTC) declined his position at 125 kg in men’s freestyle in Final X New York on June 8.
2021 World champion Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo,/New York AC/USOPTC) declined her position at 76 kg in women’s freestyle in Final X Stillwater of June 3.
That means that both Final X finalists at 125 kg in men’s freestyle and at 76 kg in women’s freestyle will be determined at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa., May 21-22. The winners of the semifinals at those weight classes will both advance to Final X.
A total of 16 athletes had earned the right to advance directly to Final X, and 14 of them have declared their spots. There are seven declared in Stillwater and seven declared in New York.
