Many boys and girls state champions from across the USA are signing up for the National High School Recruiting Showcase
by Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling
Although the Boys National High School Recruiting Showcase is still a month away in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the Girls National High School Recruiting Showcase is almost two months from now, qualifiers who are either state high school champions or NHSCA All-Americans are already starting to sign up.
As of today, there are 40 state champions or NHSCA All-Americans registered, with more coming every single day. There are currently 23 states represented, a number which also increases daily.
One of the state champions already in the tournament is a five-time state champion, Cory Land of Moody High School in Alabama at 126 pounds in the boys event.
Among the girls already registered are a pair of three-time state champions from Missouri, Maddie Kubicki of Park Hill South High School, who will compete at 138, and Haley Ward of Fort Osage High School, who will battle at 152 pounds.
USA Wrestling will publish this list of state champions and NHSCA All-Americans who have registered, to give recognition to those athletes and allow college coaches and recruiters to know who will be attending.
All state champions and National Prep champions (any year) will automatically qualify for the High School National Recruiting Showcase for both boys and girls. All previous state champions and National Prep champions must pre-register for the National Recruiting Showcase. State champions are defined as state association sanctioned state champions for boys in folkstye, and both state association sanctioned champions and recognized unofficial state champions for girls in folkstyle.
NEW FOR 2022 – Any wrestler who has been a placewinner at the NHSCA High School Nationals (traditionally held in Virginia Beach) any year are eligible to compete at the High School National Recruiting Showcase.
The 2022 High National High School Recruiting Showcase for boys will be held at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, April 1-3. This will be held alongside the annual USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Championships, serving as the elite division for high school boys. The championships of the competition will be featured on the raised platform.
State champions/NHSCA All-Americans register for Girls National Showcase
The 2022 National High School Recruiting Showcase for girls will be held at South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas, Nev., April 28-29. It will be one of the nine different events held during the week of the Open Wrestling Championships. The High School National Recruiting Showcase for girls will be held alongside the U.S. Senior Nationals for women, with their championship finals side-by-side on the raised platform at the South Point.

For high school boys, the National Recruiting Showcase competition will be in folkstyle (also known as scholastic wrestling), while high school girls will compete in freestyle at the National Recruiting Showcase, which is the style contested in college and at the international levels.
High school wrestlers who have not won a state title or Prep National title can qualify to compete through National Recruiting Showcase Qualifiers. Four of these remain: North Logan, Utah (March 10-12), Temecula, Calif. (March 11-12), Kansas City, Mo. (March 11-12) and Milwaukee, Wis. (March 12-13).
