FARGO, N.D.–– TheMat.com decided to track the state teams by combining scores from all six tournaments at the record-setting 2022 USMC Junior & 16U Nationals this year.

California totaled up 793 points across all six tournaments this week at the 2022 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals, a 186-point lead ahead of Pennsylvania. All the divisions who wrestled in the Fargodome were 16U and Junior women’s freestyle, 16U men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman, and Junior men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman.

California won two of the six tournaments. The tournament team race started out with 16U women’s freestyle, and even though California usually holds their team trophy high every year for the women, Iowa swooped in and ended California’s 10 year streak. The Junior women's team however redeemed their state by winning the Junior women’s division with 165 points. The 16U Greco-Roman men snagged the team title the next day for California as well for 183 points.

Pennsylvania trailed behind with 607 points. They secured one team title this week with 16U men’s freestyle who earned 223 points. Behind them was Iowa with 589 points in two divisions—16U women’s freestyle with 90 points and Junior men’s freestyle with 214 points. Illinois came in fourth with 535 points. They won the Junior Greco-Roman division with 164 points, and in fifth place was Wisconsin with 508 points.

All team scores can be found under “Teams and Competitors” on FloArena.
