Wyoming Seminary, a national high school power in women’s wrestling that is located in Pennsylvania, won the girls freestyle division at the Ultimate Club Duals over this past weekend in Manheim, Pa.

Each team had wrestlers of a variety of ages, with 19 weight classes ranging from 51 pounds through high school heavyweight. This event featured an impressive 21 teams with youth, middle school and high school team members.

In the championship finals. Wyoming Seminary defeated WOW North in the finals of the Gold Pool, which consisted of the top eight teams in the field after the pool competition. The team score was close in the lighter weights, with both teams winning a number of matches early on. WOW had five match victories and Wyoming Seminary had four in the first nine weight classes.

However, in the last 10 weight classes, which included numerous nationally ranked high school girls, Wyoming Seminary (SEM) won eight of them. There were three matches where both of the girls were in the national high school rankings, and Wyoming Seminary won them all.

At 113 pounds, No. 4 ranked Ava Bayless of SEM beat No. 13 Calli Gilchrist by a 10-0 technical fall. At 155 pounds, No. 3 Reese Larramendy of SEM scored a 12-2 technical fall over No. 15 Logan Ryan. At 175 pounds, No. 7 Lily El-Masry of SEM beat No. 12 Cheyenne Meade by pin in 1:43.

Two unranked Wyoming Seminary athletes beat nationally ranked girls from WOW North. At 101, Gabriella Gomez scored a 12-0 technical fall over No. 25 Makayla Young. At 127, Devyn Moore defeated No. 14 Josie Davis, 12-2.

In the third-place match, the Midwest Black Mambas Team I defeated BullTrained Women, 50-37. In this match, the Midwest Black Mambas won six of the first nine matches among the lightest weights, all by bonus points. For the Midwest Black Mambas, winning by pin was Brynn Engel (67), and claiming technical falls were Abigail Peterson (61), Lily Dison (72), Carolyn Geckler (83), Angelina Gochis (89) and Caley Graber (95).

BullTrained went on streak with high school wrestlers, claiming six of seven bouts, including winning two matches where both wrestlers are nationally ranked. At 101, No. 1 Ava Ward beat No. 13 Aspen Blasko in a 10-0 technical fall. At 134, No. 8 Sarah Savidge scored a 10-0 technical fall over No. 4 Cassia Zammit. During that run, Jayden Keller of BullTrained knocked off No. 23 Angelina Cassioppi at 106 pounds. However, Midwest Black Mambas closed out the dual with the final three wins, all by nationally ranked wrestlers in No. 8 Maggie Graham (155), No. 22 Kaitlyn Pegarella (165), No. 20 Katelyn Lewis (175) and No. 2 Riley Dempewolf (HWT).

The Michigan Revolution Girls team placed fifth with a 57-38 win over Misfits Sweet Lightning. Claiming seventh place was Charlies Angels Black, with a 49-38 win over Hammer Chicks Team I.

The Light Your Torch award was received by these undefeated girl wrestlers: Madison Healey and Reece Larramendy.

The tournament was stacked with nationally ranked athletes on the high school level, and the results will have an impact on the national rankings. It is one of the largest girls dual meet events in the nation.
