Colson Hoffman (Complex Training Center) and Vinny Mayberry (MWC Wrestling Academy) battle in the 113 -pound round of 16 at the Brian Keck Preseason Nationals.
DES MOINES, Iowa – The quarterfinals have been set in the Boys High School Grades 9-10 division of the USA Wrestling Brian Keck Preseason Nationals on Friday.
Two weight classes, which featured round robin competition, was completed in the Friday session at 220 pounds and 285 pounds.
Vanden Hoffman of the Wrestling Factory in Wisconsin won the 220-pound title, going 3-0 in a four-athlete round robin. Logan Buchanan of the Newton Wrestling Club in Kansas was the 285-pound champion, with a 2-0 record in a three-athlete round robin.
The other weight classes advanced through the round of 16, determining the quarterfinalists for Saturday morning.
A FloWrestling nationally ranked wrestler was defeated in the round of 16, as Alex Braun of the MN Elite WC edged No. 16 Logan Fowler of Higher Calling WC, 4-2 at 126 pounds. Braun is among those who are honorable mention in the FloWrestling rankings.
There were nine wrestlers who are ranked in honorable mention by FloWrestling who have advanced to the quarterfinals. They are:

There will be no returning champions left in the Boys 9-10 Grade division, as all three of the Middle School champions from last year who moved up to the high school division were not able to reach the quarterfinals.
This division will conclude on Saturday morning during Session III, which runs from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
