Third and fifth-place matches set after third session of Big Ten Championships

State College, Pa. – Several rounds of consolations were wrestled in the third session of the Big Ten Championships earlier this afternoon. All of the tournament’s seventh place matches have concluded, and the third and fifth place matches are now set. Iowa holds the lead in the team race with 139 points. They have six wrestlers in the finals and three going for third-place. Penn State is in second with 116 points. They have four wrestlers in the finals, one in the consolation finals and three individuals going for fifth-place.

Both Penn State and Iowa qualified nine wrestlers for the NCAA Championships. Nebraska and Michigan, who are third and fourth in the team race respectively, both qualified eight wrestlers. Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue each qualified seven.

The finals begin at 4:00 p.m. EST and will be televised live on the Big Ten Network
