Budapest, Hungary – This afternoon, the Men’s Freestyle Cadet World Team received their draws for the opening round of the 2021 Cadet World Championships. The tournament begins tomorrow and features five weight classes kicking off on the opening day: 48 kg, 55 kg, 65 kg, 80 kg and 110 kg. The remaining five weight classes: 45 kg, 51 kg, 60 kg, 71 kg and 92 kg, begin on Tuesday.

Due to the lack of tournaments over the past 18 months including the cancelled 2020 Cadet World Championships, many of the participants lack results in United World Wrestling’s database.

At 45 kg, Bo Bassett opens his tournament with Georgia’s Malkhazi Khelaia. Should Bassett win, he will move to the quarterfinals and face the winner of Azerbaijan’s Yusif Isparov, a 2021 European Cadet bronze medalist, and Armenia’s Hayko Gasparyan, a 2021 European Cadet silver medalist. Bassett is a 2021 Pan Am Cadet champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman.

Luke Lilledahl begins his tournament tomorrow at 48 kg with Russia’s Akhmad Musakhadzhiev. Lilledahl is also a 2021 Pan Am Cadet champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman.

The U.S. representative at 51 kg is Nate Jesuroga. He kicks off his tournament on Tuesday against Uzbekistan’s Nodirbek Jumanazarov.

Spencer Moore will see 2021 Cadet European champion Andranik Avetisyan of Armenia tomorrow in his opening match at 55 kg.

Beau Mantanona’s first match at 60 kg comes against 2021 Cadet European silver medalist Abdulrahman Ibrahimov of Azerbaijan.

At 65 kg, Meyer Shapiro drew Ukraine’s Timur Yusov, a 2019 U15 Combat Games fifth-place finisher.

In his opening bout at 71 kg, Levi Haines takes on Uzbekistan’s Asadbek Karimov.

James Rowley faces Russia’s Mustafagadzhi Malachdibirov to begin his tournament at 80 kg. If he advances, he will see the winner of Ukraine’s Oleksandr Mamrosh, a 2021 European Cadet champion, and Majid Bagheri Kheirabad of Iran in the quarterfinals.

Gavin Nelson, a 2019 U15 World Combat Games team member in Greco-Roman, opens with Khaleifah Alhefeiti of the United Arab Emirates at 92 kg.

110 kg features Jim Mullen squaring off with India’s Sahil Sahil in the first round. In the quarterfinals he will take on the winner of France’s Levan Lagvilava, a 2021 Cadet European champion, and Hungary’s Milan Gellen, a 2019 U15 World Combat Games bronze medalist and a 2021 Cadet European bronze medalist.

Action begins tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. local time which is 6 hours of Eastern Standard Time (5:30 a.m.) and can be streamed live on FloWrestling.
