Women’s wrestling titans named as honorary coaches for Captains’ Cup

The Captains’ Cup is set for Feb. 13-14 live on FloWrestling, and while some of the biggest current stars in women’s freestyle are competing, they’ll be led some of the most impactful pioneers the sport has seen.


Each coach was picked by the team captains as part of the Captains’ Cup draft last month.

• 2006 National Wrestling Hall of Fame inductee as Distinguished Member

Afsoon Johnston – Team Mensah-Stock

• First U.S. woman to win a World medal (bronze, 1989)

• 1990 World silver medalist

• Four-time World Team member (1989, 1990, 1992, 1997)

• 2016 Olympic coach

Ashley Sword – Team Francis

• Head coach at Life University

• 2007 Pan American bronze medalist

• Former U.S. National Team member
