Four wrestlers earn their second title of the weekend during the U15 Men's Freestyle Nationals

Wisconsin Dells, Wis. The U15 Nationals wrapped up this afternoon with the men’s freestyle finals. Four wrestlers doubled up, winning the freestyle tournament after earning Greco-Roman titles on Friday.

The tournament’s outstanding wrestler, Ladarion Lockett of Oklahoma was one of the four champions who claimed titles in both styles. Lockett, who teched his way into the finals, bested California’s Coby Merrill in the best-of-three 62 kg finals, two matches to none, 10-0 and 17-8.

Iowa’s Haakon Peterson was another wrestler who doubled up. Peterson battled through a hand injury he suffered in yesterday’s quarterfinals, to claim the 41 kg title over California’s Michael Romero in two-straight matches, 6-2 and 6-0.

At the next weight class up, Tennessee’s Cooper Hilton claimed his second title of the weekend at 41 kg. Hilton downed Illinois’s Seth Mendoza in two tight criteria matches, 1-1 and 4-4.

The fourth wrestler to earn to titles was Wisconsin’s Aeoden Sinclair at 75 kg. Sinclair put on an impressive performance earning a pin and 10-0 technical fall over Pennsylvania’s Terrell McFarland.

At 38 kg, California’s Slater Hicks took home the title after finishing runner-up in Greco-Roman. In the semifinals, Hicks avenged his Greco finals loss to Domenic Munaretto, 4-3. He followed it up with a 6-4 decision and a 12-2 technical fall over Ohio’s Grey Burnett in the finals.

Ohio’s Marcus Blaze claimed the title at 48 kg. Blaze defeated Greco-Roman champion Matthew Martino of Idaho in the finals, 5-1 and 8-4.

The only series to go the full three matches was in the 52 kg bracket where Illinois’s Ben Davino came from behind to knock off New Jersey’s Anthony Knox. After dropping the first match, Davino beat Knox in two-straight bouts, 9-2 and 4-4.

Minnesota natives, and current teammates, Landon Robideau and Tyson Charmoli squared off in the 57 kg finals. Robideau came out on top with 7-1 and 7-2 victories.

Florida’s Bas Diaz emerged victorious from the 68 kg bracket. In the finals, Diaz, who finished fourth in Greco-Roman, defeated Iowa’s Justin Avila, 6-3 and 7-2.

De’Alcapon Veazy came out on top of the 85 kg round robin. He defeated Garrett Kawczynski by technical fall, 11-1 to claim the title. Kawczynski previously defeated Veazy by technical fall, 8-0, on Friday to win the Greco-Roman title.
