Match of the Day: Alleida Martinez and Marissa Gallegos split bouts at the UWW Junior Nationals

Menlo College’s Alleida Martinez and Colorado Mesa’s Marissa Gallegos faced off twice at the UWW Junior Nationals. Their first meeting came in the quarterfinals and their second, in the third-place match. Both women competed in the U23 division as well, with Martinez finishing seventh at 53 kg and Gallegos bumping up and taking second at 55 kg.
Martinez is a two-time Junior World Team member, a 2015 Cadet World silver medalist and a 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist. She is a 2019 NAIA and WCWA champion. Gallegos is a 2019 WCWC third-place finisher and a 2019 Senior Nationals sixth-place finisher.
