Pin of the Week: Elena Pirozhkova opens the 2010 World Championships with a fall over Kazakhstan's Zakharova

Elena Pirozhkova began her 2010 World Championships in style, picking up a quick fall over Kazakhstan’s Tatyana Zakharova. Pirozhkova went on to take silver, her first World medal. Her only loss came to the legendary Kaori Icho, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and ten-time World champion for Japan.
Pirozhkova earned a World title in 2012. She followed it up with a bronze at the 2013 World Championships and another silver at the 2014 World Championships. She is also a two-time Olympian, representing the U.S at the 2012 and 2016 Games.
