One of the greatest Greco-Roman wrestlers in USA history, Dremiel Byers has been elected into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Due to COVID-19, his induction ceremony has been delayed until June 2021. We chose one of his international wins for today's Match of the Day.
Byers won three World medals (2002 gold, 2007 bronze, 2009 silver) and made two U.S. Olympic Teams. In this match, he battles Heiki Nabi of Estonia, who is still competing, and has won 2006 and 2013 World gold medals and a 2012 Olympic silver medal. This is a battle for a bronze medal in the respected Golden Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan, two great Greco-Roman heavyweights. At the end, we get to see Byers take a bow when his arm is raised, a traditional gesture after a Byers victory.
