Yesterday, Washington Governor Jay Inslee announced that schools in three major counties in the state have been cancelled for over a month. The day before, Inslee has restricted gatherings of more than 250 people in those counties. The Washington State Department of Health advises that events that involve the potential for disease transmission that cannot accommodate alternative attendance should be cancelled or postponed.
As such, USA Wrestling has canceled the 2020 Northwest 16U and Junior Regional Championships, which were scheduled to take place in Centralia, Wash. from March 28-29. This is consistent with USA Wrestling’s procedure to seek guidance from the local health department, as well as its number one priority being the health and safety of its members.
All entry fees for this event will be refunded. Refunds are expected within a week.
