Central Valley Conference in California suspends fall athletics, affecting CCCAA champion Fresno City wrestling

The Central Valley Conference, a community college athletic conference in California, has suspended fall 2020 sememster athletic competition.
Wrestling is a fall sport in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), and two of its wrestling teams fall within the Central Valley Conference: Fresno City College and West Hills College Leemore.
Fresno City College is the defending CCCAA state wrestling champions and a dominant team in the California Junior College scene.
In response Fresno City College announced they are suspending all athletics for the fall 2020 semester due to COVID-19, according to local news reports.
"This decision I know is incredibly disappointing, in fact for many it's heartbreaking," said Carole Goldsmith, President of Fresno City College said in a story posted by ABC30.com
Statement by Central Valley Conference Commissioner Susan Yates on behalf of the CVC Executive Board:
Coronavirus cases continue to climb across our state, a shocking 69% rise in just two days and our region has witnessed record elevated levels of transmission and hospitalization. Citing concerns over their ability to adequately protect staff and student-athletes from the Coronavirus, the majority of schools in the Central Valley Conference (CVC) will suspend athletic competition for the fall 2020 semester. Colleges in the CVC wishing to compete may request to be hosted by another California community college athletic conference.
The Central Valley Conference offers 12 men's sports and 12 women's sports (some are hosted in other conferences due to a minimum number of teams) and is made up of the following 10 community colleges: Clovis Community College, Columbia College, Fresno City College, Merced College, Porterville College, Reedley College, College of the Sequoias, Taft College, West Hills College Coalinga, and West Hills College Lemoore.

In regards to the entire CCCAA wrestling season, the CCCAA has announced that it will decide on their plan to move forward with the 2020-21 season on July 17. On that date, they will either go forward with their normal season (called their Conventional Plan), or go with two other plans (Contact/Non-Contact Plan or Contingency Plan). In the other two plans, wrestling would become a spring season sport for all CCCAA programs.
