USA receives draws for first day of Senior/Junior women’s action at the Klippan Lady Open in Sweden

KLIPPAN, Sweden - A group of 15 U.S. women freestyle wrestlers have received their first round draws for the Senior/Junior division at the Klippan Lady Open, which begins on Saturday.


2012 Olympian Kelsey Campbell (Scottsdale, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) will open against two-time Nordic silver medalist Sofia Aak of Norway.


A pair of Senior Nationals champions, who won their titles in Fort Worth, Texas in December, will also compete.


National champion Dominique Parrish (Scotts Valley, Calif./Sunkist Kids) opens at 55 kg against 2009 World champion and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Sofia Mattsson of Sweden.


At her 59 kg opening bout, National champion Abigail Nette (St. Rose, La./Tiger WC), will face Agnes Nygren of Sweden, who was third in the 2018 Nordic Cadet Championships.


Three-time Junior World medalist Erin Golston (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) opens up at 50 kg against another American, Samara Chavez (Arlington, Texas/Arlington Martin), who is currently ranked No. 1 in the national high school rankings at 112 pounds.


Of the opening round matches for the U.S. women, there are five bouts in which two Americans face each other right off the bat.


This group of U.S. athletes include a variety of high school, college and post-graduate wrestlers who compete on either the UWW Junior or the Senior level.
