Kilty, Shilson, Parrish, Nette and Bell receive draws for U23 Worlds

2018 Cadet World champion Emily Shilson will face three-time age-group World champion Kika Kagata of Japan in the opening round.

BUDAPEST, Hungary – The first five U.S. women have received their draws for the 2019 U23 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Action is set to begin on Wednesday.
Representing the USA tomorrow is Emily Shilson at 50 kg, Dominique Parrish at 55 kg, Abby Nette at 59 kg, Macey Kilty at 68 kg and Precious Bell at 76 kg.
2018 Cadet World champion and two-time Junior World silver medalist Kilty will open her tournament at 68 kg against Canada’s Alexia Sherland, who was seventh at last year’s U23 Worlds.
Kilty seeks her fifth overall World medal in her fifth World Championships appearance as she also owns a 2016 Cadet World bronze.
2018 Cadet World champion and Youth Olympic Games champion Emily Shilson drew a tough opening bout as she will take on three-time age-group World champion Kika Kagata of Japan.
Kagata won Junior Worlds in 2017 and tallied Cadet World titles in 2012 and 2014.
Set to compete in her third U23 World Championships is multiple-time U.S. Senior National Team member Dominique Parrish at 55 kg.
Parrish, who took fifth at the 2018 U23 World Championships, will start her tournament against Rana Rani of India, who does not have any international credentials.
At 59 kg, Nette, also a Senior National Team member, will face 2019 U23 Asian Championships bronze winner Otgonbayar Purev to begin her second-straight U23 Worlds.
Making her World Championships debut tomorrow is Final X runner-up Precious Bell at 76 kg. Bell will do battle with 2019 Cadet Asian Championships runner-up Pooja Pooja.
