UPDATE: Six U.S. women college wrestlers, plus Vicki Anthony, win SFU International titles in Canada

BURNABY, B.C., Canada – Six U.S. women wrestlers who compete at the college level won gold medals at the respected SFU International on Saturday. The seventh U.S. champion was two-time Senior World Team member Victoria Anthony.
The tournament featured a number of top Canadian Senior-level wrestlers, as well as many college wrestlers from the United States and Canada.
Individual champions from the USA who compete for McKendree University were Emma Bruntil (62 kg) and Alexandria Glaude (72 kg).
Bruntil defeated Canadian Julie Steffer of the Brock WC in the finals, with a 10-0 technical fall.
Glaude, a 2019 WCWA champion who is No. 2 on the U.S. Senior Women’s National Team, defeated another U.S. wrestler, Skylar Grote of the Brock WC, 6-2 in the finals. Grote is a native of New Jersey who goes to college in Canada.
Two champions who wrestle for Simon Fraser University in Canada, but hail from the United States, won titles, Alex Hedrick (55 kg) and Emily Cue (90 kg).
Hedrick, a California native who represented the Titan Mercury WC in this event, stopped Phoenix Dubose of King in the finals, 7-2. Hedrick was No. 2 on the U.S. Senior National Team in 2018.
Cue, who hails from Colorado, defeated another American, Sydnee Kimber of McKendree, in the finals 12-4.
Anthony, a two-time Junior World champion who was fifth in the Senior Worlds twice, returned to her alma mater to compete. Anthony was a four-time WCWA national champion for Simon Fraser. She won her first two matches by technical fall. In the finals, Canadian Jess MacDonald, of the Brock WC, a past World champion, forfeited the match to her.
The two U.S. athletes who were champions for King University were Alyssa Aceval (59 kg) and Ashlynn Ortega (65 kg)
Aceval won a three-athlete round-robin, scoring two pins of just 19 seconds and 22 seconds. Ortega scored a 3-1 victory over Canadian Michelle Fazzari of the Brock WC, a 2017 Senior World bronze medalist.
U.S. silver medalists included Grote, Kimber, Dubose, plus Alexia Ward of McKendree at 57 kg, Kori Bullock of McKendree at 76 kg and Reggan Grade of Big Bend CC at 90+ kg.
Bronze medalists from the USA included Natalia Reyna of McKendree at 50 kg, Danielle Garcia of King at 53 kg, Makayla Welch of King at 55 kg, Julian Yates of Grays Harbor at 59 kg, Grace Kristoff of McKendree at 68 kg, Joye Levendusky of McKendree at 72 kg, Andrea Sennett of McKendree at 76 kg.
