Several losses avenged in Senior Men's Freestyle Challenge Tournament Quarterfinals

The semifinals are set at the Senior Men’s Freestyle World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.
At seven weights (61 kg, 74 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg), the winners of the challenge tournament will face the 2019 U.S. Open Champions in the best-of-three series. These weight classes have returning World medalists sitting in Final X.
At the remaining three weights (57 kg, 65 kg and 70 kg), there are no returning World medalists, so the Open winners received byes to Final X. The semifinal winners at these weight classes will wrestle each other in the best-of-three series for a chance to wrestle at Final X.
Exemplifying the strong young talent developing in USA Wrestling, 2018 U23 World Team member, Jack Mueller knocked off No. 2 seed Zain Richards in the opening round, 7-5.
At 61 kg, former Hawkeye Tony Ramos defeated another former Hawkeye Cory Clark, who is still training with the Hawkeye Wrestling Club, 6-1. Clark beat Ramos twice at the 2019 U.S. Open last month and also at the American Wrestling League event in November.
Another strong young wrestler, 2018 Junior World Team member, Dom Demas took out No. 3 Jayson Ness, 12-0 at 65 kg. Ness had beaten Demas at the Open 16-3.
The semifinal in the top half of the 65 kg bracket will feature two former Nittany Lions, Zain Retherford and Frank Molinaro duking it out. Retherford defeated Molinaro in the 2017 World Team Trials Finals to earn a spot on the World team.
The No. 2 and No. 3 seeds went down at 70 kg, with Anthony
Ashnault defeating Hayden Hidlay 4-4 on a last second turn and Jason Chamberlain taking out Alex Pantaleo, 3-2.
The rest of the weight classes did not feature any major upsets.
