Men's freestyle wins nine gold medals at Cadet Pan Ams

MORELIA, Mexico – The USA finished off the 2019 Cadet Pan American Championships, sweeping the team title in all three styles as the men’s freestyle squad collected nine gold medals on Sunday in Morelia, Mexico.

Earning places atop the podium were Daniel Sheen at 45 kg, Joey Fischer at 48 kg, Nico Provo at 51 kg, Jacob Rundell at 55 kg, Jesse Mendez at 60 kg, Robert Perez III at 65 kg, John Best at 71 kg, Michael Misita at 92 kg and Braxton Mikesell at 110 kg.

Sheen, Fischer, Mendez, Perez, Best, Misita and Mikesell won double gold this weekend as they claimed titles in Greco-Roman on Friday.

Jack Darrah, who won also won a Greco title, earned silver in men’s freestyle today at 80 kg.

On the day, the Red, White and Blue went 34-2 in all matches. Of the 34 wins, 19 were technical falls and 11 were pins.

In the team standings, the U.S. won with 245 points, followed by Mexico with 138 points and Canada with 134 points.
