The USA Wrestling age-level freestyle and Greco-Roman circuit will continue next week with the annual 16U National Duals competition in Spokane, Wash., June 11-15.
Greco-Roman competition will begin Wednesday with freestyle to follow on Friday.
No other state has come close to being as dominant at 16U (Cadet) National Duals than Illinois. The Prairie State has won seven of the past 10 years in Greco-Roman and 12 out of the past 16 years in freestyle.
Although it came down to the final match against Washington in the finals, Illinois regained the 16U Greco-Roman title last year after losing the past two years to Minnesota. However, Illinois took second in freestyle for the first time since 2012. The team to dethrone them in 2018 was the same team that dethroned them in 2012 – Pennsylvania.
Many states will once again be bringing tough teams with some of the state’s top 16U athletes. The entire event will be streamed live on TrackWrestling.com.
