McGowan, Figueroa, Mendez, Facundo and Haas receive draws for 2019 Cadet World Championships

SOFIA, Bulgaria – Five more USA wrestlers received their draws for the men’s freestyle portion of the 2019 Cadet World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Representing the United States on Tuesday is Marc-Anthony McGowan at 45 kg, Richard Figueroa at 51 kg, Jesse Mendez at 60 kg, Alex Facundo at 71 kg and Kyle Haas at 92 kg.
Figueroa and Facundo make their second Cadet World Championships appearances tomorrow.
Figueroa, a returning World silver medalist, will open his tournament tomorrow at 51 kg against Ato Maruyama of Japan. Maruyama has no international credentials.
2018 Cadet World bronze medalist Facundo drew 2019 Cadet Asian silver medalist Shokhrukh Juraev of Uzbekistan for his first round at 71 kg.
Mendez, a 2019 Cadet Pan American champion in freestyle and Greco-Roman, makes his World debut, wrestling 2019 Cadet African champion Osama Abdellattif from Egypt first at 60 kg.
2018 U15 Pan American champion in both styles Marc-Anthony McGowan wrestles at lightweight tomorrow, facing Suraj Annikeri of India in the first round. Annikeri is a 2019 Cadet Asian bronze medalist.
Haas, who won the Cadet World Team Trials in freestyle and Greco, will wrestle only in freestyle this week. To begin his first international tournament, Haas will face Er Hurilebate of China at 92 kg.
