Kilty to go for gold, Fiske for bronze, Guerin pulled into repechage in women’s freestyle at Junior Worlds

TALLINN, Estonia – 2018 Cadet World champion and three-time age-group World medalist Macey Kilty (Stratford, Wis./Sunkist Kids) has reached the finals at the Junior World Championships.
In the semifinals, Kilty secured a pin of Hanna Sadchanka of Belarus in 3:55. Kilty led 1-0 after the first period, when Sadchanka was put on the shot clock and did not score. In the second period, Kilty ran the score up to 5-0 after a takedown and turn, and was able to power Sadchanka over to secure the fall.
Kilty had a pair of technical falls in the morning session, beating Nerea Pampin Blanco of Spain, 10-0 and Wiktoria Choluj of Poland, 12-1.
By making the finals, Kilty has guaranteed that she will win a fourth age-group World medal for the USA. In addition to her 2018 Cadet gold medal, Kilty was also a 2018 Junior World silver medalist and a 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist. Kilty is with the EAP program at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.
Alyvia Fiske (Napa, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) was defeated in the semifinals, losing by fall to 2017 and 2018 Cadet World champion Yuka Kagami of Japan in the semifinals in 2:36. Fiske was put on the shot clock, and Kagami took her down with a cradle, driving her to her back for the fall.
Fiske’s opponent in the bronze-medal match will not be determined until the repechage rounds are held on Friday morning. She will face the winner of the bout between Maria Nitu of Romania and Anastasiya Alpyeyeva of Ukraine
In the morning session, Fiske beat Johanna Meier of Germany with a dominant 10-0 technical fall in the quarterfinals.
Fiske is competing in her second straight Junior World Championships for the USA. She will also compete in the 2019 U23 World Championships in October. Fiske was a 2019 U.S. Senior Open champion and is a WCWA All-American for Simon Fraser
Qualifying for Friday morning’s repechage was Cameron Guerin (Yakima, Wash./Titan Mercury WC/EAP) at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. Guerin was pulled back in repechage after Alina Akobiia of Ukraine, who beat Guerin in the quarterfinals, won her semifinal match by technical fall over Magdalena Glodek of Poland.
Guerin will battle Youmei Wu of China in the repechage match. If she wins, she advances to a bronze-medal bout against Glodek.
Guerin was fifth in the 2017 Junior World Championships.
Not eligible for repechage after the wrestler who beat them were defeated in the semifinals are 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist Gracie Figueroa (Selma, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) at 53 kg/116.5 lbs. and Two-time age-group World medalist Alara Boyd (Yorktown, Ind./CIA) at 62 kg/138.75 lbs..
Figueroa was beaten by Mariia Tiumerekova of Russia in the quarterfinals, who then lost to Japan’s Haruna Okuno in the semifinals.
Boyd was defeated in her quarterfinal bout by Irina Ringaci of Moldova, who was pinned in her semifinal bout by Yuzaka Inagaki of Japan.
The repechage round for Guerin will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning. Kilty and Fiske will compete in the finals round, which begins at 6:00 p.m. Friday night. Tallinn is seven hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time zone.
