The Junior age division and high school girls division at 2019 Marine Corps Western Regional will be taking place alongside the U.S. Open at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev., April 25-28.

With registration no longer open and no onsite registration available, the complete list of wrestlers competing is available.

Among the top names competing are 2018 Cadet Greco-Roman World Team member Jakason Burks (Omaha, Neb./MWC Wrestling Academy) and 2017 Cadet Greco-Roman World Team member Kase Mauger (Wendell, Ida./Delchev Trained Academy). Although both wrestlers have made Cadet Greco-Roman World Teams, they are only entered in men’s freestyle for this tournament.

Also competing in men’s freestyle will be Fargo champions Jett Strickenberger (Monument, Colo./Suns of Thunder), Rocky Elam (Kansas City, Mo./Team Central WC), and Spencer Trenary (Rolfe, Iowa/Team Valley WC).

Competing in both men’s freestyle and men’s Greco-Roman will be Fargo champions Michael Weber (Forsyth, Mont./Big Game WC), Santos Cantu (Silverton, Ore./Salem Elite Mat Club), and Braxton Mikesell (Spokane, Wash./INWTC).

Competing in high school girls freestyle will be Fargo champions Sage Mortimer (Springville, Utah/Team Utah), Louisa Schwab (Plainfield, Ill./Team Illinois), and Alexis Gomez (Carol Stream, Ill./Gomez Wrestling Academy).

Although Sage Mortimer is competing in high school girls freestyle, she is also competing in the junior men’s Greco-Roman competition. Mortimer was the first girl to be a Junior Greco-Roman All-American at Fargo when she placed seventh last summer. Therefore, the lone Fargo champion competing in both high school girls freestyle and high school girls Greco-Roman is Jasmin Clarke (Kelseyville, Calif./Team California).

This event is great preparation for the Junior National Championships. Athletes who place at this event are often successful later in the summer at the National Championships. The top four place winners in the Junior weight class at the Western Regional qualify for their state's National Team above the state limit.

Wrestling will begin Thursday, April 25 at 3 p.m. PT and can be streamed live on TrackWrestling.com.
