Notes: The Cadet Nationals for men, both in freestyle and Greco-Roman, is always a great coming-out party for young wrestlers in the international styles. In most cases, it is second-year Cadets who earn All-American honors in Fargo, so there are not a lot of returning stars from the year before. This year in freestyle, there are two national champions and three runners-up who are back, and only a total of 22 All-Americans from 2017 in the field. Most of the returning stars are in the lighter weights. The 106 weight class has four returning All-Americans, including a pair of 2017 Cadet National champions, Drake Ayala of Iowa who won in freestyle last year and Yusief Lillie of Washington, who won in Greco-Roman. There are two members of the 2018 UWW Cadet World Team who came to wrestle as Cadets in Fargo, freestyler Carson Manville of Pennsylvania (145) and Greco-Roman star Jackason Burks of Nebraska at 113. Manville is one of the two returning Cadet National freestyle champions, along with Ayala. It is a large field with athletes from across the nation looking to make a name for themselves.
