2016 Olympic champion and two-time World champion Helen Maroulis (New York, N.Y./Sunkist Kids) will make her India Professional Wrestling League debut on Wednesday, January 10, as her Haryana Hammers open its regular season schedule against the Veer Marathas at the Siri Fort Complex in New Delhi, India.

The India Professional Wrestling League released its schedule for the regular season for the six-team league. There will be one match held each night. All of the teams will wrestle each of the other five teams, and the results from the regular season will determine which teams advance to the playoffs to determine a league champion.

The first opponent for Maroulis at 57 kg in the dual meet against the Veer Marathas on Wednesday is expected to be Ritu Phogat of India, a 2014 Junior World silver medalist and 2011 Junior World bronze medalist.

Below are the dates for all five of the Haryana Hammers matches, and the expected opponent for Maroulis, based upon updated rosters.

Wednesday, January 10 – vs. Veer Marathas (Ritu Phogat/India)

Friday, January 12 – vs. Delhi Sultans (Sangeeta Phogat/India)

Tuesday, January 16 – vs. NCR Punjab (Pooja Dhanda/India)

Saturday, January 20 – vs. Mumbai Maharathi (Odunayo Adekuoroye/Nigeria)

Tuesday, January 23 – vs. UP Dangal (Vanesa Kaladzinskya/Belarus)

Maroulis is expected to face two other opponents from India. Sangeeta Phogat of the Delhi Sultans was second in the 2017 Commonwealth Championships and eighth in the 2017 U23 World Championships. Her other opponent from India is Pooja Dhanda of the NCR Punjab, who was third in the 2014 Asian Championships and member of India’s 2013 Senior World Team.

Her other two expected opponents, who would be faced late in the season, are both World medalists. On January 23, Maroulis could battle two-time World champion Vanesa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus, who is on the UP Dangal. Kaladzinskaya was a 2017 World champion at 53 kg, while Maroulis won her World title in 2017 at 58 kg. On January 20, Maroulis is slated to battle Odunayo Adekuoroye of Nigeria, who was a 2017 World silver medalist and 2015 World bronze medalist.

The India Professional Wrestling League has updated its schedule for its third season, as well as the rosters for the six teams in the league. All of the regular season dual meets will be held at the same location, the Siri Fort Complex in New Delhi, and are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. local time, which is 10.5 hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time.
