Gray, Anthony, Stock among 18 U.S. women to receive draws for Klippan Lady Open in Sweden

KLIPPAN, Sweden – A large and talented group of U.S. Senior women’s freestyle athletes, including six past Senior World Team members, have weighed in and received their draws for the Klippan Lady Open, which starts on Saturday.
This year, the Klippan Lady Open is a UWW Ranking Tournament, which will be used to help determine the seeds for the 2018 World Championships in Hungary in October.
Among the stars on the U.S. team is three-time World champion, five-time World medalist and 2016 Olympian Adeline Gray (Kingston, Pa. / New York AC), who opens against 2017 European silver medalist Zsanett Nemeth of Hungary at 76 kg/167.5 lbs.
Gray is on the opposite side of the bracket from 2016 Olympic champion Erica Weibe of Canada and 2017 World Champion Yasmin Adar of Turkey, who will face each other right away in the first round.
Two-time World Team member Victoria Anthony (Tempe, Ariz./ Sunkist Kids) opens with two-time Pan American Championships silver medalist Natasha Kramble of Canada at 50 kg/110 lbs.
2017 World Team member and two-time Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix champion Tamyra Stock (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Titan Mercury WC) opens her tournament at 68 kg/150 lbs. against 2016 World University champion Buse Tosun of Turkey.
The other three past World Team members on the U.S. roster are Sarah Hildebrandt (Colorado Springs, Colo. / New York AC) at 53 kg/116.5 lbs., Mallory Velte (Sacramento, Calif. / Titan Mercury WC) at 65 kg/143.3 lbs. and Victoria Francis (Litchfield, Ill. / Titan Mercury WC) at 72 kg/158.7 lbs.
Hildebrandt, who competed in the 2016 Worlds, opens with 2017 Nordic champion Karalina Tjapko of Latvia. Velte and Francis were members of the 2017 U.S. World Team. Velte drew 2016 University World silver medalist Kriszta Incze of Romania. Francis will face 2017 U23 World silver medalist Naruha Matsuyuki of Japan in her first bout.
