Beat the Streets Los Angeles 5th Annual Benefit to feature USA vs. India women’s dual meet on March 31, 2019

Beat the Streets Los Angeles announced that its 5th Annual Benefit will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019. This year's competition and benefit reception will be held at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and will feature an international competition between the India and U.S. Women's Freestyle Wrestling teams.
This will be the second time that Beat the Streets Los Angeles has hosted an international women’s wrestling competition as part of its Benefit weekend. On October 29, 2017, the United States defeated Japan, 6-4, in a dual meet in Little Tokyo which featured numerous world-class athletes from both nations.
The lineups for the two nations are not currently finalized. The United States and India are among the best women’s wrestling nations in the world. The USA placed second at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships and third at the 2018 World Wrestling Championships in women’s freestyle wrestling. India was eighth at the 2018 World Wrestling Championships. Numerous athletes who have been World and Continental medalists are expected to participate for both nations.
Following the successful benefit featuring the Japan and U.S. Women's Freestyle Wrestling teams, Beat the Streets Los Angeles is honored to continue a tradition of showcasing the world's greatest female wrestlers and inspiring the rising generation of wrestlers in Los Angeles and beyond.
All funds raised during the 5th Annual Benefit campaign will support the Beat the Streets Los Angeles mission to empower and transform the lives of youth through the sport of wrestling.
The Wiltern Theater is an iconic location in Los Angeles. Originally built in 1931 in Los Angeles, the Wiltern was designed by architect Stiles O. Clements of Morgan, Walls & Clements, the city's oldest architectural firm.
The magnificent interior of The Wiltern evokes a period of elegance and style simply not found anywhere in today's modern venues. The entrance is set back among colorful terrazzo paving, and its art deco design contains decorative tile work along with colorful murals. The most dramatic element of the overall design is the sunburst on the ceiling of the auditorium, with each ray representing its own art deco skyscraper. The venue offers the perfect vibe and shape for a variety of events. The venue remains one of the largest theaters in Los Angeles.
