USA men’s freestyle to compete at Alans International in Russia, Dec. 7-9

Nine U.S. men’s freestyle athletes will represent the USA this weekend at the Alans International in Vladikavkaz, Ossetia, Russia, Dec. 7-9.
Headlining the U.S. delegation is two-time Senior World medalist and four-time U.S. World Team member James Green.
Less than two months after an appearance at the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Green is back to competition and will wrestle at 70 kg this weekend.
Also competing at 70 kg is 2011 Junior World Team member Josh Kindig and 2017 Dave Schultz Memorial International silver medalist Mario Mason.
Competing at 86 kg is 2012 Junior World silver medalist Pat Downey, whose last international medal came at the 20th Annual Dave Schultz Memorial International in 2017, where he won bronze.
Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Team member Hayden Zillmer will wrestle at 92 kg. So far in his young career, Zillmer owns six international medals, including gold at the 2018 Cerro Pelado in Cuba.
International veterans Frank Perrelli and Tony Nelson will also be wrestling in Russia at 57 kg and 125 kg respectively.
The Alans International marks Perrelli’s fifth international tournament of 2018. In July, he posted a silver-medal performance at the Canada Cup.
Nelson, a two-time National Team member, enters his first international tournament since 2017, where he claimed bronze at the Ion Corneanu & Ladislau Simon Memorial.
Making their international debuts this weekend are two-time NCAA runner-up for Wyoming Bryce Meredith at 65 kg and two-time All-American for Indiana Nate Jackson at 79 kg.
The tournament is set for Dec. 7-9. As of now, there is no place online to watch the tournmant. USA Wrestling will keep fans up-to-date on the American wrestlers’ results as information becomes available.
