Rau earns second-straight international finals bid, seven others win medals at Haparanda Cup

HAPARANDA, Sweden – Eight U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers captured medals at the 2018 Haparanda Cup earlier on Saturday in Sweden.

Among the medal winners was champion Trent Osnes, silver medalists Colton Rasche (63 kg), Jamel Johnson (67 kg) and Joe Rau (82 kg) and bronze winners Raffaele Masi (63 kg), Pat Smith (77 kg), John Stefanowicz (82 kg) and Daniel Miller (97 kg).

It was Rau’s second-consecutive international finals appearance as he won the SA Larikov Cup title last weekend in Russia.

Also doubling up on medals this tour was Johnson, Smith and Miller, who all claimed bronze a week ago.

Osnes was uncontested at 130 kg, earning him a gold medal.

Americans putting together fifth-place finishes included Morgan Flaharty (67 kg), Colby Baker (72 kg), Mike Donato (77 kg) and Tommy Brackett (87 kg).
