Change in Women’s Nationals schedule: Cadets weigh-in two hours before competition

This weekend’s UWW Women’s Nationals in Irving, Texas, will feature a new weigh-in schedule for Cadet wrestlers to mimic the format of the UWW Cadet World Championships, set for Sept. 4-10.

The 2017 Cadet World Championships will have a day-of weigh-in, rather than day before like in years past.

For Women’s Nationals, weigh-ins are scheduled for 8-8:30 a.m. on Saturday, while competition is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Any Cadet wrestlers that wish to compete in the Junior division, as well, are required to also weigh in with the Juniors on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m.

  • Athletes competing in the best two-of-three finals CAN weigh-in immediately after the completion of their final match IF it’s 5:30 p.m. or later
  • Athletes competing in the best two-of-three finals MUST weigh-in within one (1) hour after the completion of their final match
  • Athletes finishing before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20th, MUST weigh-in from 5:30-6:00 p.m.
  • If any challenge tournament matches go past 3:00 p.m., athletes MUST weigh-in within three (3) hours after the completion their final match.

This UWW Nationals weigh-in schedule will only be altered for the Cadet women’s tournament. The Cadet Greco-Roman and Cadet men’s freestyle UWW national events will still hold day-before weigh-ins.

Medical checks and weigh-ins (8-8:30 a.m. CT) – Cadet women’s freestyle

Session I (9:30 a.m. CT-1:30 p.m.) – Schoolgirls and Girls Divisions I and II
Preliminaries through 3rd place matches (Schoolgirls)
Preliminaries through finals (Girls Divisions I and II)

Session II (10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.) – UWW Women Cadets
Preliminaries through 3rd place matches

Medical checks and weigh-ins (5:30-6 p.m. CT) – Junior women’s freestyle

Session III (6 p.m.) – UWW Cadets and Schoolgirls
Best-of-three finals

Sunday, May 21
Session I (9 a.m.-1 p.m.) – UWW Women Juniors
Preliminaries through 3rd place matches

Session II (2 p.m.) – UWW Women Juniors
Best-of-three finals
