Kurt McHenry of Leesburg, Va. burst onto the international scene in 2016, when he won four straight matches to claim the 42 kg freestyle gold medal at the Cadet World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. McHenry remained UWW Cadet eligible this year, and earned a return trip to the Cadet Worlds after moving up to 46 kg and winning the UWW Cadet Nationals in Akron this spring. He has been busy preparing this summer with two visits to the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The first camp also included the Senior World and UWW Junior World Teams. This past week, he trained with the UWW Cadet World teammates. McHenry competes in the Cadet Worlds in Athens, Greece, set for September 4-10.
