Georgia's Zviadi Pataridze wins third Junior World crown to close championships

TAMPERE, Finland – The 2017 Junior World Championships in Tampere, Finland, closed on Sunday night with Zviadi Pataridze of Georgia winning his third-straight Junior World Championship.
The Georgian faced Asian bronze-medal winner Roman Kim of Kyrgyzstan.
Pataridze went up 5-0 early, but gave surrendered two points in the final seconds of the first period to take a 5-2 lead into the break. He managed one more point on a step out early in the second period, which was the final point of the match as he claimed his third Junior World crown with a 6-2 win.
Finishing third at 120 kg were Konsta Joh Maeenpaeae of Finland and Amin Moham Mirzazadeh of Iran.
At 55 kg/121 lbs., two-time Cadet World silver medalist Kerem Kamal of Turkey met up with 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist Zholaman Sharshenbekov of Kyrgyzstan in the title match. Kamal dominated, scoring eight points in the second period for a 12-3 technical fall.
Winning bronze at the weight were Turabek Tirkashev of Uzbekistan and Emin Narim Sefershaev of Russia.
2017 Junior Asian champion Amin Yavar Kaviyaninejad of Iran claimed the crown at 66 kg/145 lbs. over 2015 Cadet World bronze winner Malkhas Amoyan of Armenia. The match was decided in the final moments as the Iranian scored a takedown to tie the match and lead on criteria. It proved to be enough and Kaviyaninejad won with a 3-3 decision.
The 66 kg bronze winners included Miakhdi Ab Iakhiaev of Russia and Namaz Rustamov of Azerbaijan.
Two-time Cadet World champion Aleksandr Komarov of Russia earned his third technical fall of the day in the 84 kg/185 lbs. final against 2014 Cadet World champion Arman Yava Alizadeh Abdeva of Iran. Leading 4-0 at the break, Komarov hit a four-pointer with a step out seal the tech, 9-0.
Bronze medalists at 84 kg were Salih Aydin of Turkey and Mikita Klimovich of Belarus.
Iran won the team title with 58 points, finishing five points ahead of second-place team Russia. The U.S. Greco team took fourth place with 38 points.
Team USA leaves Finland with nine Junior World medals and a Junior World champion in all three styles for the first time in history, with men’s freestylers Daton Fix, Mark Hall and Gable Steveson, women’s wrestler Maya Nelson and Greco’s Kamal Bey all winning gold. The Red, White and Blue also picked up four silver medals and two bronze throughout the week.
Next up for the United States is the 2017 Senior World Championships in Paris, France, Aug. 21-26.
