McHenry, Cashman, Arujau, Carr, Warner receive men's freestyle draws at Cadet Worlds

TBILISI, Georgia – The first five U.S. men’s freestyle athletes have made weight and received their draws for Saturday’s competition the 2016 Cadet World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Representing the U.S. tomorrow will be Kurt McHenry (Leesburg, Va.), Aaron Cashman (Spring Park, Minn.), Vitali Arujau (Syosset, N.Y.), David Carr (Massillon, Ohio) and Jacob Warner (Washington, Ill.). All five American representatives are competing at their first World Championships.
“I just know these guys are excited and ready to wrestle,” U.S. coach Brandon Slay said after weigh-ins. “They made the Cadet World Team about five months ago, so I know they’re antsy, they’re eager. I know our group of guys are prepared for tomorrow.”
McHenry, a 2015 USAW Cadet Freestyle All-American, starts the tournament at 42 kg/92.5 lbs. against Seyed Azimisiyacheghaei of Iran.
Cashman is set to face Azim Mamyshev of Kyrgyzstan in the first round at 50 kg/110 lbs. The Minnesotan was a USAW Cadet Freestyle Nationals All-American in 2015 and USAW Folkstyle Nationals champion this year.
Two summers ago Arujau won the USAW Cadet Freestyle Nationals in Fargo, N.D. Tomorrow he hunts for Cadet World gold, starting with two-time Cadet Pan American silver medalist Hector Candelaria Rivera of Puerto Rico at 58 kg/127.75 lbs.
Competing at 69 kg/152 lbs., Carr was paired against Davud Alizalau of Belarus for his first go in Tbilisi.
Warner boasts the best resume of the Americans wrestling tomorrow with first place finishes at the 2015 USAW Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman and freestyle under his belt, in addition to doubling up at the UWW Cadet Nationals this year. The Illinois product will battle Gheorghe Erhan of Moldova in his first bout at 85 kg/187.4 lbs.
The men’s freestyle competition at the Cadet World Championships opens tomorrow with the qualification and repechage rounds at 2 a.m. (ET) followed by the medal matches at 10 a.m. (ET).
