Perry, Brant win bronze medals at Paris International in France

PARIS, France – A pair of U.S. wrestlers, one in men’s freestyle and one in Greco-Roman, won bronze medals on the first day of the Paris International on Saturday.
Chris Perry, Stillwater, Okla. (Titan Mercury WC), won the bronze medal in men’s freestyle at 74 kg/163 lbs. He defeated Alireza Mohammad Ghasemi of Iran, 8-5 in the bronze-medal bout.
Perry opened with a 4-9 loss to 2015 World silver medalist Hassan Yazdanichariati of Iran. When Yazdanichariati reached the finals, Perry was pulled back into repechage, where he scored a 10-0 technical fall over Alberto Martizez Navarro of Spain.
Perry, a past NCAA champion for Oklahoma State, was a Junior World bronze medalist in freestyle.
In Greco-Roman, Michael Brant (Camp LeJeune, N.C./U.S. Marine Corps) won a bronze medal at 80 kg/176 lbs. He scored an injury default over his U.S. Marines teammate Robby Neill in the bronze-medal round.
The USA had two athletes place fifth in Greco-Roman, Neill plus Daniel Miller (Camp LeJeune, N.C./U.S. Marine Corps) at 98 kg/215 lbs.
