Ramos, Dennis, Howe get freestyle draws for Yarygin Grand Prix in Russia

KRASNOYARSK, Russia – The first three U.S. wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the men’s freestyle competition at the respected Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix, which starts on Friday.


Two-time U.S. World Team member Tony Ramos (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC/Hawkeye WC) opens up at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. with Eduard Grigoriev of Russia, who was second in the 2015 Dmitri Korkin International.


2016 U.S. Open champion Daniel Dennis (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC/Hawkeye WC) also opens with a Russian in his first match, Solbon Tumenbayar.


Both Ramos and Dennis were college stars at Iowa.


There are 35 wrestlers in the bracket at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. where Ramos and Dennis are entered.


At 74 kg/163 lbs., Andrew Howe (Norman, Okla./New York AC/Sooner WC) will open against Arslan Budazhapov of Russia, who was third in the 2014 Mongolian Open.


Howe won a silver medal at the 2015 Ivan Yarygin International. He is a past Junior World medalist, and was an NCAA champion for Wisconsin and NCAA runner-up for Oklahoma.
