GOTZIS, Austria – The United States won four medals and finished third in the team standings at the Austrian Junior Greco-Roman Open on Saturday.

Winning a gold medal at 55 kg/121 lbs. was Dalton Roberts (Fowlerville, Mich./NMU/OTS), who won four straight matches on the way to the title. He defeated Jarbi Tahar of France by technical fall, 9-0, in the championship finals.

It was the second straight year which Roberts has won this tournament, after taking a gold medal at 50 kg/110 lbs. last year. He was a member of the U.S. Junior World Team last year as well. He is a member of the Northern Michigan University U.S. Olympic Training Site program.

Claiming a silver medal at 50 kg/110 lbs. was another Northern Michigan athlete, Randon Miranda (Palmdale, Calif./NMU/OTS), who had a 2-1 record in a four-athlete roundrobin. He lost his first match to the eventual champion, but charged back with two straight wins to secure the silver medal. Miranda was a Junior Triple Crown winner out of California during his high school career.

The two U.S. bronze medalists were Andrew Ibarra (Santa Maria, Calif./NMU/OTS) at 60 kg/132 lbs. and G’Angelo Hancock (Colorado Springs, Colo./NYAC/OTC) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Both had 3-1 records for the day. Ibarra defeated Ariles Adjaoud of France in his bronze-medal bout, while Hancock defeated Vlad Deschiyev of France to secure his bronze medal.

Hancock was a member of the 2015 U.S. Junior World Team, and is ranked nationally on the Senior level. Hancock was fourth at the Austrian Junior Open last year.

The United States placed third as a team, in a 12-team tournament, with 46 points. Georgia was the team champion with 77 points, followed by runner-up Hungary with 53 points.
