New York AC receives draws for day one of Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup

BUDAPEST, Hungary – The New York Athletic Club’s Greco-Roman team, representing the United States, received its draw for the 3rd Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup in Budapest, Hungary, which starts Thursday.
The New York AC will wrestle in Group B tomorrow against Hungary’s No. 2 team Euro-Budapest Profile, Turkey’s Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi and Greece’s Ethnikos.
There are 16 teams in the tournament with Iran and host Hungary each entering two teams. Below are the pool pairings.

The New York AC team features several talented and experienced Americans, including 2011 World Team member Cheney Haight and three-time U.S. national team member Patrick Smith.
The U.S. roster also includes a pair of 2016 Junior World Team members in Kamal Bey and 2016 Junior World bronze medalist Tracy Hancock.
The format will include four pools, in which the winners advance to a semifinal round. The semifinal winners compete for 1st and 2nd place, while the semifinal losers will compete for 3rd and 4th place. There will be placement matches for the top 10 teams in the tournament.
The top-three teams will receive medals and diplomas.
The tournament is set to begin at 3 a.m. ET and will be broadcast live on United World Wrestling’s website.
The event ends one day prior to the start of the 2016 Non-Olympic Weight World Championships, which will also be held in Budapest.
