Nine U.S. wrestlers receive draws for first day at Alexander Medved International

MINSK, Belarus – Nine U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for the first day of competition at the Alexander Medved International in Minsk, Belarus.
Two-time World champion and Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs will take to the mat for the first time since earning a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Burroughs will face Islomiddin Rakhimov of Uzbekistan in the opening round at 74 kg/163 lbs.
The 74 kg weight class will feature 43 athletes including two-time World Bronze medalist’s Ali Shabanau of Belarus and Jabrail Hassanov of Azerbaijan, both of whom Burroughs defeated at the 2013 World Championships in Budapest.
2015 Dave Schultz Memorial International champion Cayle Byers has drawn Ivan Yankouski of Belarus to begin his competition at 97 kg/213 lbs. Yankouski medaled at four international competitions in 2014 including earning bronze at the European Championships and silver at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix.
Dustin Kilgore is looking to expand off his silver medal performance at the Dave Schultz Memorial International, as he will face Uzbekistan’s Khusanboy Rakhimov to open the competition.
Also competing at 97 kg is past NCAA Champion for Iowa State David Zabriskie who drew Mongolia’s Dorjkhand Khuderbulga in the opening round at 97 kg. The Mongolian placed fifth at the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix earlier this year.
2014 U.S. Open runner-up Andrew Hochstrasser will face Magomedrasul Magomedov of Russia at 57 kg/125.5 lbs.
Frank Perelli and Brandon Precin will also compete at 57 kg for the U.S. in Minsk. Perelli opens with Russia’s Alexandr Zelenov while Precin will take on Belarus’s Mahsad Hasanau to begin the competition.
Representing the U.S. at 65 kg/143 lbs. will be Michael Mitchell and Chase Pami.

Tomorrow’s competition will begin at 1 a.m. (EST).
