NEW YORK, NY- Jim Fallis announced today that he will be stepping down as Executive Director at the end of August. He has served as Executive Director since August 2012.

Beat the Streets New York (BTSNY) is a not for profit 501.3.c organization whose mission it is to develop the full potential of the urban youth through wrestling and to strengthen the culture of NYC wrestling. The premier fundraising event for Beat the Streets is the annual Gala which was held in Times Square this past month and featured the USA versus Cuba in an exciting match up of world class competitors. This year's Gala, topped a million dollars in gross revenue for the third year in a row.

Fallis said, "Now is the right time for me to make this announcement and to lend my support to the leadership for a smooth transition. What started as a two year journey with mountains of challenges, turned into three years of excitement, working side by side with some of the most extraordinary people I have ever had the privilege of knowing."

"I want to thank our wonderful staff and all the coaches I had the privilege to work alongside, the amazing things that are happening at BTSNY are happening because of all of you. To the board and the thousands of people that support the mission of Beat the Streets, thank you for all you give to put smiles on kids' faces. To Board President, Kyra Tirana Barry, I cannot thank you enough for the leadership you have provided and sounding board you have been for me on the job."

"Words cannot do justice when thanking Board Chairman, Mike Novogratz, thank you for the opportunity that made it possible for me to give back to our great sport, thank you for throwing the chaotic curveballs around Gala time and thank you for making the job FUN! "

"Finally to all the student athletes- you are phenomenal and truly amazing. What an inspiration you have been to me as I have watched you grow and persevere in becoming the best you can be. As I move on I will always remember how much fun it was to be with all of you," he said.

Since Fallis took the helm at Beat the Streets New York, wrestling in New York City has grown.

In 2014, middle school participation topped 1,000 kids for the first time. In partnership with the Public School Athletic League (PSAL), the number of boy's high school teams in NYC increased by 18%. The number of girls high school teams, the only high school all girls league in the country, increased by 25%. Over 3,000 students now participate at the K-12 level in New York City.

Fallis implemented a new website design, brought the Mayor's Cup, city tournaments and jamborees to a new level of efficiency and professionalism.

He established the TOP summer camps program, strengthened girls programs and established community based programs while putting numerous administrative processes in place for greater productivity.

"I want to thank Jim on the professional culture he established at Beat the Streets and the strengthening of our core programs", said Board Chairman Michael Novogratz. "His passion for ensuring that wrestling helps prepare NYC wrestling youth for life's challenges will have a lasting effect on BTS and our student athletes."

Beat the Streets New York will begin a national search for a replacement and all inquiries should be directed to search@btsny.org
