FARGO, N.D. – California’s Randon Miranda and Arizona’s Danny Vega won prestigious USA Wrestling Triple Crowns in the Junior division in 2014.
And both took the first step of repeating their historic feats by winning USA Wrestling Folkstyle titles in April in Cedar Falls. Miranda won at 106 pounds and Vega prevailed at 113.
But something has to give at the Junior Nationals Greco-Roman competition in Fargo. Vega is still competing at 113, but Miranda has also moved up to that division.
Miranda and Vega both advanced to the quarterfinals on Monday night at the Fargo Dome.
2015 Junior Folkstyle Nationals champion Mitchell McKee of Minnesota is in the quarters at 132.
Wrestling resumes in the Junior Greco division at 9 a.m. Tuesday with quarterfinals and semifinals. The finals are scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and will be shown on Flo Wrestling’s live webcast.
